The Wuala cloud storage isn’t a bad service in terms of security. Storage is encrypted and the servers are (supposedly) located outside of the US. But by shutting down the free storage plan as of 1/1/2015 they likely pronounced its death sentence.
For a clean uninstall follow these instructions:
- Do what
they tell1 they told you:- Shut down Wuala completely.
- Delete the folder
~/Library/Application\ Support/Wuala
. (That’s in the Library folder in your Home directory.)
To do this either trash it in the Finder or paste this line into the Terminal and execute it:rm -Rfv ~/Library/Application\ Support/Wuala
- In your Applications folder, trash the apps
Wuala-URL-loader.app
andWuala.app
.
- In addition, there are some files remaining that should also be deleted:
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.wuala.WualaFS.KextLoaderHelper
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.wuala.WualaFS.KextLoaderHelper.plist
So, paste this line into the Terminal and execute it:
sudo rm -v /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.wuala.WualaFS.KextLoaderHelper /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.wuala.WualaFS.KextLoaderHelper.plist
(You’ll have to enter your password.)
I don’t know what’s wrong with these people: Their Mac support always has been mediocre, then they shut down the support forum entirely (2014), and at the end they don’t even deign to provide proper uninstall instructions. Grumble…
